Friendships@SG is a community space for international students in Singapore. It is built around the belief that belonging matters as much as your diploma/ degree. We’re part blog, part events hub, and part support network. Whether you’ve just landed in Changi or you’re finishing your final semester, this space is for you.
It started from a simple observation: international students were arriving in Singapore excited, a little lost, and mostly alone. The practical things usually get figured out eventually, but finding real friendship often takes much longer. So we wanted to build a place that helps with the part that school orientations and guidebooks don’t cover -
the human part!
Nope.
We’re not tied to just one campus or institution. Students from different universities and polytechnics in Singapore are welcome here.
Friendships@SG is run by a small team of international students and graduates who know what it feels like to be far from home, together with local Singaporeans who love welcoming others and showing them their country. We plan, host, and grow this space because we care about creating real community for internationals in Singapore.
No, we are not!
We’re a ground-up community, built by students, for students.
However, one of our programmes, SGXP, is backed by YouthWorks Ltd., which helps us deliver more structured and impactful cultural experiences.
We don't! Friendships@SG doesn’t earn money or charge for its activities.
We’re a volunteer-led community of locals and international students/graduates who simply want internationals to feel safe, welcomed, and have fun in this sunny island.
Nope!
Our volunteers and fellow students come from many different religious backgrounds, but Friendships@SG is not a religious group, and we fully respect personal boundaries. You’ll never be forced into religious activities at our events, and you’re always free to join only the spaces you’re comfortable with.
Yes! You’re very welcome to bring friends who aren’t international students. As long as they’re happy to be part of a friendly, mixed community and respect the space, they’re invited too.
SG XP is a cultural experience platform designed to help international students understand, engage with, and feel at home in Singapore through fun, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences.
Rather than learning culture only through textbooks or orientation talks, SG XP allows students to experience Singapore firsthand — through play, food, stories, and shared reflection.
SGXP is a community programme backed by YouthWorks Ltd., a registered organisation in Singapore.
We chose YouthWorks Ltd. to back us up because of their strong track record in youth development and community-building in Singapore.
Their experience in creating safe, meaningful spaces for young people aligns closely with SG XP’s mission—not just to inform, but to help students truly belong.
With their support, SG XP is able to run programmes with greater credibility, structure, and care, ensuring that every experience is not just fun, but purposeful and impactful.
